It looks like we are going to be able to buy local Oriole broadcasts over streaming services. This has been my one big hesitant to getting rid of cable. Not being able to watch Oriole games. I have had enough of paying over $200 a month for content I don't use. With alternative sources like Hulu, etc there are much cheaper ways to get entertainment.

I hope I'm incorrect, but I think this isn't what you think it is.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-01-19/major-league-baseball-settles-with-fans-over-game-telecasts This article seems to make it about other RSNs having the ability to stream games in OUR market (and vice-versa).

As far as making single-team streaming available, they said this:

MLB said in court papers that before next season it would introduce single-team streaming packages to allow out-of-market fans to watch their ball clubs without having to pay to see other games.

That's also my problem with cord cutting. I just can't give up my O's games. I'm already paying dirt cheap prices for Netflix and I have an Amazon Prime account. My TV accesses them through my WiFi. The TV isn't on a whole lot either, because we make our kids play instead of eat snacks and watch TV shows. If I could stream O's games I would drop my service to internet only for $45-$50 a month. If I could legally stream O's games from MLB TV I would have cut it a long time ago.

So that means I can get MASN instead of the MLB package?

Interesting choice.

Hola! I hear tell there is a Chrome extension that makes your IP seem like it is from overseas, and then you can use the MLB TV package even in-market. I hear tell it was a way to work around not having TBS during the playoffs. Anyway, just wanted to say Hola...;)

Cut the cable a few years ago, once MLB.tv got really good. I would never go back. A Roku with MLB.tv, NHL live, Netflix, Hulu, Plex, Sling, is so much cheaper (and more entertaining) than old school cable.

I can't believe how much money a family allocates to cable these days. We cut ours a while ago, don't miss it, and the money we would have been spending on that each month got soaked up on our kids/groceries/something else.

My point is: the investment is not substantial.

I do pay for membership here, now. Booyakasha!
